Announcing: Festive Social, 13 December

As 2019 races to a close, we’d like to invite you to join us for a Festive Social on 13 December, at the Arts Bar & Café in our home Toynbee Studios.

Playful Socials are free events, open to members of the Network of Coney and anyone interested in our work. It’s a great chance to meet other people from our Network, and alongside drinks and good conversations, we’ll have a few festive treats up our sleeve.

The Festive Social will be led by Associate David Finnigan – so we’ll hand over to David to tell you more…

Guys, we are about to bust into the 2020s! We’re in the last few weeks of the 2010s, or the Tens, or the Teens, or whatever we call this decade. It’s been a wild ride – it hasn’t all been great, but there’s been some lovely music, and I guess we should be grateful for the small things.

Coney is closing out the decade with a little celebration for our network, a gathering and an evening of play which we’re calling our Festive Social. This is a very informal occasion where there’ll be drinks, chats, and of course, a game.

Created bespoke for the occasion, we’re excited to invite you to play: CHRISTMAS ZOO.

Secretly, I actually can’t stand Christmas – I get nervous buying presents, and twitchy spending a day around a dining table – but I love Christmas as a plot device in movies and games. Christmas is somewhere between a playful backdrop and a ticking timebomb, a countdown to a big event.

So in the tradition of powerful Christmas classics like Love Actually and Die Hard, we’re taking an already challenging scenario, and ramping up the stakes.

Running a zoo is hard at the best of times, but at this zoo, budgets have been cut, visitor numbers are dropping, the weather is horrible, and to top it off, the animals have broken out in rebellion.

Can you save the day and bring things back from the brink before Christmas Day?

Hope you can join us. See you there!

– David
